Sun Series | Leo

Picture
Your Sun sign is pretty much your outward personality, ego, who you identify as or consciousness. Most of us only know our Sun sign, and often we look at horoscopes from this lens. BUT our charts are so much deeper than that! If you are interested in a more in-depth approach to your star blueprint, I offer Astrology Chart Readings and Coaching sessions.

Let's start with the Sun signs to get your familiar with Astrology.

Leo, July 23 - August 22 | The Performer

When Leo is in an enlightened time of life, you can be a loving leader and performer. On the other hand, when you aren't awake to your potential, you tend to be a show-off and egotistical.

Leo is ruled by the Sun itself, so you are meant to shine especially from that enormous heart of yours! You are creative, playful and love the center stage; this gives you a majestic quality about you that many admire. Your soul journey is to learn to move your gaze from your personal love to unconditional compassion and love for others. Once you learn to this, your leadership potential will soar to great heights. Learning to dance with your ego will be a big feat as you do tend to boast and take over the spotlight from time to time. Learn to love yourself without the ego and then let that love overflow to everyone around you.

Gifts | Creativity, playfulness, humor, affection, self-expression

Struggles | Arrogant, self-absorbed, boastful, exaggerative, codependence
Picture
The great lesson for Leos is to learn to tame the ego and use their humongous heart to love themselves and others! They will become the best leaders when they learn to rule from their heart rather than their head.

Sun Sign Series | Cancer

Picture
Your Sun sign is your outward persona, ego, who you identify as or your consciousness.
Cancer, The Feeler | June 21 - July 22
When Cancer is in an enlightened phase of life, you are a nurturer and become a sensitive psychic. On the other hand, when you aren't on the path to your potential, you might tend to be moppy and come off as a grouch. You can't help it; you tend to feel ALL the feels!

As the most sensitive and emotional signs, this crab sign is a feeler and often a psychic. Whenever you enter the room, you can most certainly feel the energy. If you sense any bad vibes, you might retreat into your hardshell and even unleashing one of your powerful moods.

Your journey is to learn how to protect your sensitivity so you can use it as a gift; you are meant to extend your compassion to others to help nurture them in any situation. You most likely will develop high self-awareness over time. The key is to tune into when your feelings feel like they are going to engulf you, yet you recognize the slew of emotions and calmly bring yourself back to your center. As you master this technique, you will give all of a lesson on how to continue to return to love, acceptance, and trust.

Cancer Gifts | Gentleness, imagination, nurturer, assurance

Cancer Struggles | Moody, smothering, insecure, anxiety
Picture
Learn to master your human emotions and show others how to do the same. It's important to protect your sensitivity, while still remaining kind and authentic.

Sun Sign Series | Gemini

Picture
Your Sun sign is your outward persona, ego, who you identify as or your consciousness.

Gemini, Intelligence | May 21- June 20

When Gemini is in an enlightened phase of life, you can be a teacher and an expert on any topic that you fancy. On the other hand, when you aren't on the path to your potential, you might tend to be a dictator and come off as a phony.

Gemini is the third planet in the zodiac and ruled Mercury the planet of communication and intellect. You come across as very witty and social. You are a very talented communicator which makes you an excellent teacher. The third sign on the zodiac is represented by two human twins who symbolize the duality of earthly existence - the physical body and the spirit within each of us.

As you move forward on your journey of life, you must learn to embody both the physical body and the spirit, rather than floating back and forth between the two concepts. You can't help it, you are an air sign and love to flow freely. You must learn to drop into your heart and integrate your intellectual mind with your emotional body. Your journey is to deepen your knowledge and use it on your path to enlightenment. With having immense amounts of mental energy, you must find a way to centre your thoughts. Grounding exercises can bring your mind back down from the clouds and anchor your ideas in reality. You'll then be able to open your heart to spirituality and universal connectedness.

Gemini Gifts | Intelligent, witty, curious, communicative

Gemini Struggles | Gossip, restless, manipulative, nervous
Picture
Learn to open your heart and integrate both sides of yourself - intellect + heart! In doing this you can become an inspiring teacher, as long as you let your students come to their own conclusions rather than forcing your point of view.

New Moon in Leo | How to Set Your Intentions

Picture
The new moon in Leo is taking place on August 18th, so it's important to set our intentions for the next few weeks. We will cover Leo's energy and how to set your new moon intentions. Leo is the most regal and creative sign of the Zodiac. You are being encouraged to tapped into your more playful, creative and affection side. We all have a little bit of Leo in us no matter what your Sun sign is. You are being asked to express yourself with exuberance, creativity, and humor. You'll most likely feel as if you have more energy, courage and inspiration during this new moon. Take ahold of it and let these traits flow through you, especially as you set your goals and intentions for the next month.

Here are a few things to think about as we head into this performative energy.

Don't Be Afraid To Show Off And Be Seen!
The Leo energy is asking us to celebrate life. We all get to enjoy it. Leo's energy is generous, fun, magnanimous and even tends to fall on the spectrum of being a show off! That's ok we all need our time to shine and as we all off Leo somewhere in our chart this is being activated with the New Moon. The more we play, celebrate and appreciate our lives the more positive things we attract to our lives. Don't be shy and go for it!

Adorn Your Love Ones With Affection
It's time to get flirtatious! Leo is a big lover and fearlessly lets those around them know how they feel. It's time for each of us to use this energy for some fun + flirting. Plan a fun date night, go on an adventure or send some sweet love notes. Your loved ones will enjoy some extra attention.

Be Creative
Leo invites us to tap into our creative passions whether its art, prepping a meal in the kitchen, doing crafts, dreaming up travel plans or creating beautiful graphics for work, Whatever creative means to you, make sure you carve out some time to play. Don't be too serious, lighten up!

Love Yourself
Open up your heart, pay it forward, be giving and tap into Leo's loving energy. This sign gets a bad wrap for being too boasting BUT it is so important to love ourselves. Take some time to love on yourself. Take a page from this spotlight lion, make a list of all your characteristics + strengths that you love about yourself. Make space over the next few weeks to work on self love + your leadership skills.

Spoil Yourself
Take yourself on a date, splurge on something nice or buy yourself some flowers. Indulge a little and then spoil someone else you love. Leo is represented by the regal lion and calls us to remember how powerful we truly are. Walk a little a taller and make sure to show the world ALL you have to offer. You are meant to shine and Leo is giving you an extra boost!

Picture
Set the mood
Light some candles, play some spiritual music and center yourself by taking in 3 deep breathes.

Feel Gratitude
Who + what makes you the happiest? Write down 5-10 people or things you appreciate in your life. When you are finished send them love.

Decide On Your Top 10 Intentions
Take some time to think about your top 10 goals + desires and what you can commit to doing in order to make these come true over the next four weeks.

Write Down Or Doodle Your Intentions
The more energy you put into and feel towards your intentions the better the results!

Read Each One and Visualize
Take some time to read and visualize each one as having come true. Really see and feel it. The real magic is in the feeling you have when these become true. Feel it in your body!

Create an Affirmation For Each
For each intention create an affirmation that backs up your desire. For example, if you want a new job, your affirmation could be "I love my new job!"

Plan Some Action Items For Each
Think through how you intend to make each intention a reality. Write down how you will achieve it.

Meditate + Release to God/The Universe
Take about 15 minutes to meditate on your intentions and release them to God/The Universe for support. God is always on your side helping to guide you to your next best move.

Release Your Attachment to The Outcome
End your meditation by releasing the outcome of each intention. Say with confidence "For the good of all or not at all!"

Take Inspired Action
Take steps towards your intentions but remember you released the outcome for the greater good. So don't spend time watching the pot boil! Go about your life and take inspired action, have confidence but know that if it is meant to be it will not pass you by!

Components of Setting Your intention:

Intention: I intend to have a new job

Visualization: I see myself on my first day meeting with the HR manager to go over paperwork. Think through how you energetically feel?

Affirmation: I am so excited to work for this amazing new company.

Your commitment + action steps: I intend to reach out to all my friends in x industry, apply on job boards, reach out recruiters and update my portfolio.

It's important to think your intentions in your mind, feel them in your body and revel them in your soul. Have fun setting your intentions during this playful + creative energy. Remember the sky is the limits as long as you believe it!

From Hopeless to Healed

Picture
Ever since I can remember, I have loved underdog stories. I'm always eager to learn how someone was able to take a dark situation and rise above it. How did they make their fear, doubt, shame, guilt, trauma and alchemize it into something beautiful and meaningful for their life?

Each week I'll be inviting a new woman to speak about her spiritual journey. She'll share her magic and medicine to get over your old stories and start living a life of freedom.

This week I'll be sharing my story which only my close friends and family know the details.

So here we go…

When I was in 5th or 6th grade, I had my first intervention with my alcoholic parent. My 12-year-old self had worked up enough courage to approach them and let them know that I did not think it was ok how much they were drinking. That I loved them and had so much fun with them, but when they drank they were unpredictable, angry and I wasn't happy with our current living situation.

Next, my parent met me with tears of anger and the words "You don't know what you are talking about", "You are an ungrateful little girl", "Get back inside and mind your business."

I was heartbroken, I didn't know what else to do so I started to form a wall around my truth and inner knowing. In my young mind, my parent was right, and I was wrong.

If any of you have an alcoholic parent or relative, you know that being around that person is like walking on eggshells. You never know what you are going to get.

At the time, people in my life didn't know I was living with an alcoholic parent in the home, because, at a young age, I developed what's called The Family Hero. I became a super-achiever and a people pleaser. I was a workaholic and always stayed very busy, even from a young age. I made sure I had a lot of activities so that I wouldn't be home very often. I became very good at identifying other people's needs but never understood my own.

I used my success and achievements to find a sense of belonging. I also wanted to prove that everything was "fine" at home. But I never thoroughly enjoyed any of my achievements. I was always off to the next thing. Always in motion

Fast forward to my first few jobs post-college I started to have visceral reactions anytime I received feedback from my Managers. Many people called me sensitive my whole life, so I just chalked it up to me being sensitive, not a parent wound that needed to heal.

I managed to keep up the workaholic coping mechanism until I got to my first Start-Up job, I was an Office Manager and let's just say this role was the biggest f-ing trigger for all my childhood wounds. I started to have severe anxiety; I didn't really know what was causing it. After my 3rd mental break down and cry fest at work, I began to see a therapist. Something inside me said to research a therapist who specialized in adult children of alcoholics.

At my first session, I literally had never felt so seen and heard in my whole life. For once someone understood why I was the way that I was. He gave me tools and guidance to get me started. He gave me what is called the laundry list, which is basically a list of characteristics of an Adult Child of an Alcoholic and some book recommendations. I balled my eyes out as I read over the aspects. I'll go over a few examples:

1) You became isolated and afraid of people and authority figures. For me, this really manifested in all my relationships with my bosses. I'd cry at any hint of feedback or criticism. I also really hated being told what to do.

2) You became approval seekers and lost our identity in the process. Especially in my office manager role and planning wedding, I became so wrapped up in getting the approval of the team or my brides that I literally had no boundaries; I'd be nervous to say no or speak up. I wanted everyone to like me. I was a huge pushover.

3) You live life from the viewpoint of victims. For me this showed up in complaining a lot, thinking my situation was everyone else's fault but my own, thinking I was stuck that had to continue living this way.

So after reading this list, I then had to go back to work. On my way back, I remember feeling like wow that was really tough and ugly, but I had released a lot of things that I'd bottled up inside. I started to think wow things can really change.

What I didn't realize was that I wasn't yet aware of my thoughts and feelings. As an overachiever, my mind was always on doing and moving. That was my numbing mechanism, and so even while going to therapy, I wasn't slowing down enough to process.

So for the first three years of therapy, I still wasn't fully releasing my pain and trauma. Instead, I was reliving it, making a lot of the memories stronger, which was then causing my self-esteem to lower and my anxiety to rise.

I now understand that with therapy, you should also start a mindful practice. So you can release the pain from your body. Embodiment mediations have also really helped with inner child wounds.

One day I found myself on the couch and could not get up. I was so depressed and unsatisfied with my career. I was having a pity party, to say the least. When I saw Rachel Hollis documentary and the first exercise was to write a letter from your perseverance. Something inside me literally screamed get up and do this. So I did, and over that next year and a half, I went on a self-development and soul journey. I read and listened to everything I could get my hands on; I started meditating every day during my commute; I filled my life with a lot of positivity. Slowly over time, I began to feel better, to know myself better.

But the real healing came during Tony Robbins Unleash the Power Within conference, as he asked a woman her story. "She said I want to be close to my parents, but there's this wall up", and Tony said something along the lines of there's no wall except for the one you created. He said "Sure your parents weren't perfect, they are human, but you have to forgive, love them and move on. You are the only one still holding onto this." That shook me to my core. All along it was me playing the victim and blaming my problems on my parents.

I now understand that what happened to me wasn't my fault, BUT my healing is my responsibility. No one was going to save me; I had to become the hero of my own story.

Right after Tony Robbins, I decided to love my parents unconditionally. I now understand that they did the best they could with what they had. They were also most likely reliving their own family pain & trauma cycles. Once I understood this, I knew I had to be the one to break it. I had to heal, not just for myself but for my son and my family. And my son's future family.

The minute I made this decision to heal my whole life shifted. I now have a fantastic relationship with my parents, who have been 13 years sober, and I am so proud of them. I love the feeling of getting a second chance at having the relationship that I always wanted to have with them. They are amazing grandparents to my son Carter.

Additionally, I started to really enjoy my 2-hour commute, which was something I complained about for a long time. Every day I became eager to meditate and do spiritual work on the ride. I'd get off BART and look around the city and smile to myself. "I'm alive, and I get a chance to do something great today, thank you God for another day".

Shifting from my pity party mindset to a mindset of self love, compassion, forgiveness, and gratitude started to change my reality. I began to get very clear about my vision for my life. I knew I wanted to help others out of the dark and into the light. How could I help women alchemize their pain, trauma into something magical and beautiful to share with the world. I want to help you break your trauma cycle so that you don't continue the cycle of pain with your own families.

I stopped taking on weddings as my side hustle and decided I was going to plan a spiritual retreat; I asked a few friends who are coaches if they'd like to do this with me. I also told my full-time job that I wanted to work on Diversity and Inclusion. I was feeling on fire. My energy was rising from a low vibration of anxiety and scarcity to higher vibration of gratitude and excitement.

I love knowing that all along, I was supposed to connect the dots in my life to serve other people. Everything happens for you, to mold you and shape you for your destiny.

Then COVID hit, in-person activities were no longer a part of our reality. My full-time job let me go as they no longer had in-person events to plan; I postponed the retreat. The way I see it is, you have two choices: be the victim or be the hero and figure it out.

This time there was absolutely no way that I was playing the victim again. I chose to see this as happening for me. It gave me time and a safety net of severance + unemployment to truly figure out what I want to do, who do I want to become?

The first few months of COVID I took myself on a spiritual retreat almost five days a week. I worked out, did yoga, meditated, journaled, did a lot of inner child healing + reparenting, I learned to love myself to appreciate my shadow self and embrace her. I got myself a spiritual coach who has absolutely helped upgrade me on so many levels on this journey.

Then my best friend past away and grief hit me like a ton of bricks. This time I was able to feel my feelings not push them away or numb them. I let them come up, and I'd cry when I needed to. I started to ask for a sign from her, a sunflower. I began to see them everywhere and wake up even more to who I truly am.

One of my last conversations with her was that she wished she could shake people and wake them up. Everyone worries about stuff that just doesn't really matter. She wanted to help others appreciate and love life to the fullest. BECAUSE that's what SHE did even on her hardest most painful days, she was grateful to have another day. I want to invite you to start thinking about how you'd live each day if you knew it were your last. STOP saying that you'll get to your dreams tomorrow, or you'll be happy when xyz happens, no sweets START being happy today, start loving your life!

It's the only one you have and tomorrow is not guaranteed.

So, my friends, I'm choosing to share my story, not for sympathy but to show you an example that even if you think you are in a dark place right now, I promise you that you can turn it around and let light in. You can get medicine from the lesson. Once you start appreciating what you have at this moment, making positive changes, loving yourself unconditionally, forgiving yourself and others from the past and living life with a grateful heart you will become a vibrational match for ALL of your desires.

You deserve to be happy; the world needs you to share your amazing gifts. For me, I'm more scared of not trying than trying. I don't want to be on my death bed and think what if I wouldn't have been scared to share my story and help others. So I will be charging ahead to the unknown. I know I am fully supported, loved, and I am enough.

I'm now on a mission to help women like you find their light and power within. If that sounds like a journey, you'd like to go on, and you want some help and guidance. I'm opening up 5 - 1:1 coaching spots. You'll have a 90-minute coaching session each week for four months. We will deep dive into inner child healing, self-love, bringing balance to your life and create a roadmap to your dreams and desires. You'll also have access to me Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm through Group Me.

You can apply here for my coaching services. We will then hop on a call to see if we are a fit for each other. I'm available for women who say "YES I'm a 10/10, I'm ready to change my life and start stepping into possibilities."

You are worthy to have the life of your dreams and invest in yourself babe! I haven't regretted ever investing in myself and I will continue to bet on myself every single day because I know I'm worth it.

Rebel Soul Stories | Jaclyn DeDonato, Self Love Coach

Jaclyn's eat, pray & love solo trip around the world led her to love herself, find her purpose and meet her soul partner.

Picture
I met Jaclyn's freshmen year of college at California State University, Chico. Funnily enough, we met in an Anthropology class titled Magic, Witchcraft and Religion. We've come full circle, and now we love to geek out over all things spiritual. I was so excited to have Jaclyn as my first guest on Rebel Soul Stories. You can tune in every Sunday at 5:00 pm PST on Instagram @therebelsoulmama all replays are under IGTV Rebel Soul Stories Series.

This San Clemente, CA girl, is a Self Love Coach on a mission to help people love themselves unconditionally so that they can thrive in every area of life. She believes that everything flows from the extent to which we love ourselves, so when we feel safe to be who we are and when we know our intrinsic worth, our whole world starts to shift. This is the energy that calls in soulmate relationships, gives you the confidence to pursue your dreams, attracts money, and allows you to live your happiest, most fulfilled life.

I've asked Jaclyn a series of questions below. You can also check out our Instagram Live session on my Instagram @therebelsoulmama.

How did you discover your purpose and mission?

I started to follow the breadcrumbs of what lit my soul on fire and followed my intuition. For a long time, I was battling the idea that I had to work a typical 9-5, and I got confused by everyone else's idea of success. I ended up moving to Guatemala to remove myself from that idea and just listened to what my heart was trying to tell me instead of what society was telling me. I knew I wanted to help people, I was obsessed with personal development, and my heart was telling me that my pain and struggle with self-love would be medicine to other people and coaching checked all of those boxes for me. I also learned that pain leaves a lot of clues as to where your purpose can be found.

How did you feel in your body and in your life before you found your purpose? Who were you hanging out with, what things where you doing?

I felt very uncomfortable in my body and my life before I found purpose. I was very focused on the outside and not on who I was on the inside. I was in a constant battle with my weight; I drank a lot of alcohol to numb the fact that I was unfulfilled, I didn't feel like I had anyone in my life who truly understood who I was so I omitted pieces of my truest self. I was basically living my life for everyone else but me.

How was your confidence and self love when you decided to go for your dreams? And what steps did you take to evolve your self?

My confidence and self-love were at an all-time high. I had just finished a six-month program that taught me how to love myself and also gave me the tools to help my clients do the same. I invested in myself and my dreams by hiring a coach, and I created rituals that made me feel good about myself; I consumed all things self love, mindset, spirituality, and personal development. I said no to everything that felt out of alignment with who I wanted to become.

What main events happened to lead you on your spiritual journey?

I had some small moments in my life that put me on my spiritual path, but it was the moment below that really had me seeking a spiritual connection. I was feeling so shitty that I was willing to try anything that would make me feel better. I meditated every day, journaled, went to therapy every week, inner child work, listened to personal development podcasts and audiobooks, etc. It was a process of hitting rock bottom, which slowly led me to come home to myself.

What's been some of your most soul crushing moments and how did you turn these into gems of wisdom?

After I returned home from travelling the world for eight months, I jumped right back into everyday life without even thinking about it. I thought if I just found a job in the wellness space (my passion at the time), then everything in life would fall into place. I started working for a company that, on paper sounded like my dream job. I bought a car and moved into my own place all within a month of being home. I was so excited at how quickly I made it all happened, but after week 2 of my new job, I had a feeling in my gut that it wasn't right. I called my mom sobbing and told her I felt like I made the wrong decision, but I had this conditioning that told me I had to stick it out for a year. It ended up being the lowest year of my entire life. I was depressed, had regular panic attacks, and started having health issues. It was my soul trying to guide me back home to myself. Back to my true purpose. An awakening of my spirit. It led me to move to Guatemala for a year and a half to live life on my own terms and let my intuition guide the way. At the time, I looked at it as the worst year of my life, but now I see it as the most profound awakening which put me on my path.

If you could give the younger version of you any advice what would it be and why?

Everything you want in life is on the other side of loving yourself. Once you remember your worth, the things you've been searching for will effortlessly fall into place.

What are you eager to work on next?

I'm excited to build out the 2.0 version of Self Love Mastery

What are some of your BIG aspirational dreams?

Little by Little

Picture
A year ago, I found myself on the couch paralyzed. I felt lost, hopeless and frustrated with where my career was heading. I had no clue what my true purpose and passion was. I had no confidence in myself or my abilities. At the time, I was commuting four hours a day to San Francisco for my full-time tech job and planning weddings as a side hustle. Every moment of my day was consumed by doing things for others whether it was for my co-workers, clients or my family.

I had stopped taking care of myself and wasn't connecting to how I felt. That day all my emotions hit me like a ton of bricks, and I found myself paralyzed on the couch. I had stopped listening to myself and completely forgotten how to connect to my inner voice and intuition. I was keeping myself so busy that I never took the time to stop and check-in with myself. I was also seeking outside validation instead of my own.

As I laid there on my couch and searched my streaming options on the TV to numb my thoughts, I stumbled upon a  Rachel Hollis' documentary about her Rise conference. I did not want to hear a pep talk about how I needed to change my life, but something inside me pushed me to click and watch. For the first exercise, she had the crowd write a letter from their perseverance. As I mentioned, I did not want to get off the couch for any circumstance, but there I was again with an inner voice summoning me to grab a notebook and a pen. I did the exercise and wrote down all the things I've done in my life that I was proud of, all the things in my life that I thought were so hard, but I persevered. As I read this letter back to myself, tears streaming down my face, I realized how out of tune I was with myself.  I had been talking to myself so severely and stacking negative points one on top another until I believed every word I told myself. My outside life was a reflection of my inner world. I knew then and there that if I wanted my circumstances to change, I had to change my inner turmoil to inner triumph.

Little by little, I started to make small and significant changes in my life. The two changes that had the most impact on my life were:

Journaling | I hadn't written in a journal since high school, and  I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. This practice also forced me to slow down for a daily check-in with myself and set my intention for the day.

Meditation | Encouraged me to be aware, kind and compassionate with myself.  The practice of meditation taught me that my inner words have a crucial impact on my outer reality.

Over time, my journaling and meditation practices have evolved. Little by little, I became more comfortable with these activities so that now they are a non-negotiable for me. I need to do them every single day to feel my best. I make sure I start my day this way so that I can set my intentions.

Today I look back at the person I was a year ago, and I'm so proud of myself for taking that first step and becoming aware of what needed to change. I'm delighted with who I am today and continue to strive to be the best version of myself day after day. I sit here finding myself unemployed in these crazy times, the old version of me would have found every negative story and stacked it one on top of another, dragging me down further. The new version of me sees this as happening FOR me not to me. This unique circumstance is forcing me to get resourceful and creative. I'm choosing to be excited by my possibilities rather than fearful of everything that can go wrong.

If you find yourself in a similar negative self-talk pattern I encourage you to slow down, connect with yourself, be kind to yourself and little by little you will find yourself in a brand new state of mind. You will start living a life that you want, not complaining about the life that's happening to you. You are the writer, actor, director of your own life. What do you want that story to look like? For me, I want to look back and see that I overcame obstacles, fears and created the most beautiful life possible for my family and me.

With love,

5 Tips For Finding the Perfect Wedding Dress

Picture
You've saved a few bridal dresses to a Pinterest board. Your friends and family bought you a few wedding magazines which you have dogged eared pages of potential wedding day looks. Now you feel like you have a general idea of your dream dress. We can't tell you how many of our clients have said "I thought I wanted lace but when I tried on that style it wasn't me" or "I wanted a big poofy princess dress, but when I had it on in the shop I thought I wouldn't be able to sit down". Our biggest advice is to try on many different styles even if you don't think its what you want, and you might surprise yourself! We've rounded up our top 5 tips for finding the prefect wedding dress.

When to Buy

The dress should be one of your first purchases when planning a wedding. We recommend starting your search 12 to 9 months before your big day. These gowns are typically custom made and made to order. Once your gown arrives, it might need alterations. Usually, you'll have two to four fittings depending on what alternations you need or want.

Budget

Make sure you have a budget in mind. Call around to different bridal boutiques and make sure they carry dresses in your price range. Falling in love with a $10,000 dress when your budget is $1,500 is not a good way to start your big day gown search.

Your Body Type

When looking for a dress search for styles that will flatter and accentuate your best features. You should also try on different cuts to see what you are most comfortable with, and you might surprise yourself and choose something completely different than you initially thought you would.

Dress for the Season

Are you having a summer wedding outdoors in 80 degree heat? Then you might want a light and breathable gown with short sleeves. Having a winter wedding in Tahoe? A heavier fabric dress with sleeves might be more suitable. Weigh out your options and comfort level when choosing your dress.

Who to Bring

Who do you want by your side when trying on wedding dresses? Everyone is different, some brides bring both their parents while others have their bridesmaids. The choice is 1000% yours. We do recommend bringing people who will make the experience fun, memorable and give you advice in a nice way!
